I think its the fantastic organisation that makes this really difficult race so popular. 1 in 7 starters didn't finish and I think that was down to the heat on the day and the hard surfaces taking their toll.

Got through about 2.5 litres of fluids and was still very thirsty. I'm sure Nuun made a big difference because I lost loads of salt on my clothing.

My shoes were falling apart so I wore a new of Mizuno Wave Harriers - straight out the box - brilliant they were.

A few more pics here thanks to Lorraine Leary.

All going well until about Friday midnight when I realised a stomach bug had landed. The next 18 hours spent in bed or in the bathroom (what a nice subtle way of saying it). Last year too near to op, this year bug, next year I'll be there..bring it on.....c'monnnnnnnnnn.
you and me both Clive. I spent most of the weekend in hospital. Went for a scan on my leg which showed up a big blood clot behind my knee. Hopefully I can keep up the running but I've got months of tablets, blood tests and hospital visits in front of me

If he has been correctly identified I note with genuine sympathy that Inov the Sales Meister was a dnf, however I can't help but wonder if it was because he had the wrong shoes on? Too much choice?

What a great race it was yesterday. Ok that wasn't what I was thinking at Ribblehead and beyond but a great challenging course and great organisation and terrific support.

    .
I didn't think it was that hot, warm, sweated a bit, but not excessively. I wonder how many didn't make the cut offs?

Personally had a stinker, gut issues from PyG onwards and a few stops, climbed steep slopes OK, just couldn't descend. 3:47 in the end. I'll do it again fro suer because sub 3:30 should be possible with a decent run, but just never felt like I could get running.

Also wore mizunos wave harriers and they were fine. Feet a tad sore at the end, but on the whole no issues and not one blister. straight from the box like you too.

Great piccies Ady in Accy, I have obtained a copy (and permission, with a credit) of one for use on our club website and in our local rag. Not a pic of me, I hasten to add!

    Cheers, Marrow!

Roclite 312 GTX's straight from the box also (picked up from the P.O the same morning!) and, again, not a blister in sight. Judging by previous comments I didn't drink anywhere near enough fluid. Probably not even a pint all the way round. Managed fine though up until the last 4, slow, miles down from Ingleborough. Probably a bit dehydrated & struggled to get my mini Mars Bar down !

Sorry Marrow - perhaps you were simply faster than the shutter speed could handle

I did miss a few atop Ingleborough as I was taking coming up to the water station and down off the rocks so some got missed whilst I was there. On my way down to the finish I snapped everyone that came past. A few lost at the finish when I swapped lenses and then after around 5hrs 20 the bar got the better of me and I abandoned my post

Give me your race number and I will check the splits and have a look as not all have been added to the Sportsunday site.
