Than that I thus found lacking in your make
That high compassion which can overbear
    Reluctance for pure lovingkindness' sake
Grieved I, when, as the hope-hour stroked its sum,
    You did not come.

    You love not me,
    And love alone can lend you loyalty;
-I know and knew it. But, unto the store
Of human deeds divine in all but name,
Was it not worth a little hour or more
To add yet this: Once you, a woman, came
To soothe a time-torn man; even though it be
    You love not me.

Beuatiful Alf..."to soothe a time torn man" what a line!.........................sigh

You can't get lost on the Fairfield Horseshoe Frecks, once you're on the ridge keep turning right, stay on the flattish bits, and avoid the steep edges.

And if by some small chance ypu should find yourself still out there in there after dark, look to the heavens for inspiration

    The Present
For the present there is just one moon,
though every level pond gives back another.
But the bright disc shining in the black lagoon,
    perceived by astrophysicist and lover,
is milliseconds old. And even that light’s
seven minutes older than its source.
And the stars we think we see on moonless nights
are long extinguished. And, of course,
this very moment, as you read this line,
is literally gone before you know it.
Forget the here-and-now. We have no time
but this device of wantonness and wit.
Make me this present then: your hand in mine,
and we’ll live out our lives in it.

This sounds something similar to some other advice given recently...

I was actually quite impressed with the speed you came off Cat Bells given the length of time you'd been out.

Don't worry about it. We've all done it. Just ask me about Black Combe one day. Another couple of years and I might have got over it!

If you can run a race as well as you can talk one up you'll have beaten me too. ;-)

It'll be good to see you next time.

    Nobody's perfect.
    They say I'm a nobody.
    Therefore I'm perfect.

I like this little haiku harry, it reminded me of emily dickinson's poem ....

    I'm nobody! Who are you?
    Are you nobody, too?
    Then there's a pair of us — don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know. How dreary to be somebody!
    How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
    To an admiring bog!
