this race is a little easier now they have paved the way up to black hill. i remember the deep peat bogs, sinking to the crown jewels one year.

not sure about the ending now, not done it since it changed. great race but too long i feel these days.

"Almost certainly because there are many more unprepared people out in summer who then fall victim. The only idiots out in the winter are fell-runners and experienced walkers who have both the knowledge and the correct equipment", is the more balanced riposte, pal.

If you worried about broken ankles every time you went out, you wouldn't enter any race.

May and September are the danger months, when people get fooled by valley temperatures, head up to the tops in a pair of reeboks and a polo shirt, and get caught out. But in general people who get into fellrunning aren't that daft. Like life in general, it's all about a sensible assessment of the risks - it's almost as bad to be too scared than not scared enough.

You really have got an attitude problem haven't you.

I'd suggest that, with your aggressive and abusive posts on this forum, you'd have been barred three times over if you weren't given too much leeway cos you're a kid.

    Just a quick one.
How I do I know if I am "in " the race?
    Where do I find out?

    Cheers

When they cash your cheque is always a good sign, so long as it doesn't bounce.

Just visited the holmfirth harriers website to see if there is a list of entry. although I posted my entry promptly it was via my school secretary (a scary beast) and so I am paranoid that i may not be entered. Hoping someone from the club reads this as I could not access there contacts either!

    Go for it mate!

After a bit of a personal debate, I posted my entry on Saturday morning.
I'll presume that it's not full yet, or there'd have been an amendment to the relevant pages on the Harriers 'www'?

See what I've wrote below, I guess you'll be receiving the same notification?

I received my 'confirmation of entry' in this mornings post.

    As the organisers site points out;
'The Holme Moss Fell Race is a counter in the 2010 English Fell Running Championship'

So, it should be, at the very least, erm........ interesting to pit myself against National Championship competitors.

And I have absolutely no delusions of gaining a high place, having stated that 'interesting' phrase!
    - If I can scrape into the top 50%, I'll be 'dead-chuffed'!
    - Nay!, if I finish in a semi-respectable time, I'll be content!
