    Re: Jelly Babies

It's Jelly Babies for me (but only towards end of long races), but has anyone suggested marshmallows? I tried them once on the 3 Peaks. Ariived late. Tore open huge bag of them, grabbed big handfull, stuffed them into bumbag. You know what's coming....3 hours later opened zip to find marshmallows stuck to waterproofs, inside of bumbag, map etc. Still tasted good though.

P.S. Try M&S Jelly Babies - very fruity.

Jelly babies are good for long runs. Never sure whether to eat them head first, though. Any advice out there?

    Health Warning

Eating more than 3 boxes of Thornton's Fruit Jellies (i.e. more than 60 jellies) on the same run may not be good for you. Makes me puke anyway.

Did you really carry 3 boxes with you? Impressive!

Not the boxes: all the weight of that unnecessary cardboard? And anyway they'd go soggy if it rained. I did set off with 80 jellies yesterday though, which is about 4 boxes-worth, and it was jellies 61 to 64 that did the damage.

Sorry about your suffering and all that, but I can't help laughing out loud sitting here alone in my kitchen. What a joy these forums are. Eleven pages of discussion on jelly babies - the FRA certainly gets its priorities right.

May as well mention it now, at Sedbergh Gala in the cakes tent they were selling iced cupcakes with a jelly baby on top. You could bite the top off the cake and get all the icing, some cake, and the jelly baby; they told me i was their best customer that day. I left the gala with a packet of ginger shortbreads for some reason, why didn't i think to buy the cake store out of jelly baby cakes?

I've been eating Cadbury's Giant Choc Buttons on long runs recently. Don't take much chewing but can end up with chocolate on your hands as they tend to melt in warm weather
