I didn't get the chance to recce it either, but am confident enough from what I've gleaned from my little book. I hope to be up there for about 5.00 and will go and register around 6.30. I've got race number "1" if anyone wants to say hello. Probably the first and last time I'll be no.1 in a race!
Just read that no GPS's are allowed in the race. I wonder if that includes Garmin Forerunners?
Hummm interesting,no gps allowed.
i think its a stupid rule ,safety of the runners should always be a priority.if you can get from one checkpoint to the next no mater what navigational device you have i cant see how you would gain an advantage over anyone. after all ,be it a compass or a GPS you still need the skill to use it effectively.
i know that a thread has been on this issue before, and i still think that the rules should adapt with the technology after all the compass as we know it was once a new tech device. also this is not an orientiring event but a fell race
I'm number 401 and doing the half-race. Say hello as you come belting past me
Disappointed about the GPS ruling as well, I was looking forward to having a play with with my new Forerunner 205. Doesn't really matter as I recce'd the route anyway, but would have been fun![]()
I'll be packing a gps in my bumbag as a emergency. I'm sure GPS's do give an advantage, but then so so all other bits of kit. It's a stupid rule. What next, Walsh fell shoes with hessian underpants only? They need to get with the times.
Probably a stupid question - but does anyone know where in Llanberis the bus goes from if you are getting the bus to the start at Ogwen? Is it outside the Snowdon Railway by the Queens hotel?
Thanks
