Hopefully do this race. Do you reckon I'll be OK in roclite 295s? I have been up and down before, but stuck to the path all the way (and the top half was under snow so I don't know what the ground's like higher up). Or I could wear my new x-talons but I've come to the conclusion that they're half a size too big for me so maybe not such good idea for the descent?

Dont wear brand spanking x-talons...you'll destroy the grip.

You'll be fine on 99% of the race in roclite....just depends how good they are at descending grass whilst kind of contouring.

They fit my feet better (more snuggly) than any other shoe I have, so they're pretty stable, but I wish they were lower profile...

I agree with Al. 295s will be fine.

Left me crippled for a couple of days. It's a non-stop pounding from top to bottom. Hurts. Of all the fell races last season this one took the longest to recover from...

although Ive heard people suffer for days afterwards...dont fancy that with Snowdon coming up!

Looks like wet and windy.

I'm running in my Walsh fell i think. I reckon solid foot base is more important than any cushioning for a long descent. Trail shoes tend to make my feet move and cause hot spots.

Yeah, looking forward to it despite the forecast. Shropshire on tour! My first race with a single big ascent and descent. got to try to deal with the friction on the sole issue - giving me grief on the last couple of races. Maybe I'll sack off the shoes and just strap ice packs to my feet - it's unconventional ...but it might just work.
