Sorry mate deleted the nin post as I'd been beaten to it. However should have kept it as it was a way better link than 3 steps heaven!

What is it with people writing songs that are subversive and not being clear in what they mean?

I mean, Perfect day never at any point says "Oooh, I love the feeling when I'm heavily sedated" or anything like that. If I were to write a song about heroin it would be called something like "Heroin".

Maggy's farm. If Dylan wanted to attack the system, as he was free to do under the laws of the constitution, why not write a song called "The system is broken" or something? All these sketchy metaphors exclude the non-literary individuals in society from understanding the true meaning.

Or is it that songwriters know that their material needs to be marketable to the widest section of public, otherwise they won't make any money. So they make veiled references to subversive stuff so that kids like it, while not actually making a stand against anything, and always denying there is any hidden meaning in case they offend the people who just like it as a good song.

Anyway, rant over. I'm off to listen to Sergeant Pepper. You know where you are with The Beatles.

Hank III - Dick in dixie. Link Charlie Daniels has been inducted to the Grand Ole Opry, where as Hank III has been banned:

Track is also taken from the Straight to Hell album if you want a double link.

Oh yeah? So what do you think Norwegian Wood is all about then...or Day Tripper?

Hank III - Hank Marvin - Shadows

Shadow of the Day - Linkin Park

Lets have some decorum chaps. For the thickies among us, please show how your link works rather than leaving an obscure and enigmatic link with no explanation!
