i dont think i`ll be up for this,i`ve been off sick with fluy symptoms.so i dont think i`ll have recovered in time for the race(gutted).
which shoes:TBH i think i would opt for road shoes for this one or light weight trail shoes.i`ve worn fell shoes once ,and not a good idea, although it is a mountain ,the ground is very hard and more representative of a trail/track

Looking like the weather's changing just in time for a hot jogging of Snowdon, looks like it'll be another topless day out!....anyone know if there's any rules on wearing a vest or not?

Rule 13: You MUST show your race number clearly on your vest, tshirt, NO cutting off the sponsors, NO placing the number on your short. MUST be on the front of your vest. Any runner seen breaking this rule they will be disqualified.

Looking at photos on the website, some runners ignore this rule and pin their number on their shorts so they can go topless. Personally, I'd obey the organiser's instructions.

Also looking at the photos, it's clear that most people wear road shoes. I think I need the lower profile of a fell shoe, not for grip, but to reduce the chances of going over on my ankles on the stones. Any thoughts on this?

I'm baffled a bit about shoe choice to be honest. I'm just confused!!
Any other race I would of turned up in either Inov-8 mudclaws or the x talons and got on with it.

I did Cader in the Mudclaws, up and down thats 4 mile road, 2 mile forest trail and 5 mile Snowdon Replica mountain path of rocks (much worse than snowdon at the summit) and wet slab type steps, like Allt Moses.

I've done a few recee's of Snowdon now in New Balance trail shoes, Addidas Kanadia tr3 trail shoes and Inov-8 x talon 212 fell shoes. The NB's I used in bone dry conditions and were fine. The Inov-8s I used in half & half conditions, (dry going up and wet on the descent) nice and unbelievably light on the way up, and stuck like glue on the wet rock on the descent.
The addidas's were ok'ish but it was absolutely hammering it down, the path was like running up a river which made the shoes like sponges, they were really heavy.

The way I feel to be honest, it's a mountain/fell race so fell shoes it is. Going off the recee's the x-talons get my vote.
I think if the weather had of been like previous weeks, bone dry then road shoes would of been fine.

Don't worry about it. People will have great runs wearing them all. I'll probably stick with walshes unless it's bone dry. Plenty more things to worry about on the day...

    my thoughts exactly
I'd always err on the side of caution and go with a low-profile shoe, even on fairly tame trails, let alone Snowdon
