Just wondering to get ideas as my friend is doing it and he got 3 hours doing the whole route, but hoping to improve!
Wondering where everyone else is at..
    Hi Snowy,

I do try and get up to the lakes regularly to run. I have reccied the Borrowdale route twice with a best time of 4hrs 50 (definately going the right way). I am hoping to do the race in 4:15 ish.

Whilst thawing out in the Scafell Hotel on Sunday i was looking at the results board and the winning time lately is about 2hrs 50. Your friend is either on for a prize or has missed a bit out!

they are a big step up Andy, I'd say, when you take in the extra climbing and rougher terrain

If you're stretching yourself at Borrowdale you'll suffer at those two - just like if you're stretching yourself at Three Shires, you'll struggle round Borrowdale. Everyone has their own limits.

Borrowdale is also more accessible, I think that might have summat to do with it (also featured in FITC ....?)

Feet in the clouds, Andy - the book that launched a thousand fellrunners

I reccied Ennerdale at Easter and felt the 8000-9000ft.

The difference is that the last time I ran Borrowdale it took just under 4 hours (in benign conditions), my last Wasdale took 6.5 hours (in admittedly much harder weather).
