Crinkle Crags beat me last year, and although I've completed Langdale before, I'm not going to let those pesky Crinkles get away with what they did to me in 2009....

Yup was awsome race. Faultless organisation, Marshalls, mountain rescue, fans on the mountain and the town were awsome.
Conditions favoured me due to lower tempratures and rain, but the headwind at the summit made it tougher.
I got to the summit in 51 minutes due to the need of a piss!!! and 28th but got a 25 minute descent!! finished in 1:16 and 18th overall. Very happy with that as I've never done the race before and my first welsh vest :-)
A massive well done to all that competed and finished safely.
A very big well done to Steve Cale who got top 10, and is surely pushing for English honours.
Of course Tussockface. But what makes you think Langdale won't be in cloud ? I'll probably try and stick to MandyG (AKA the human compass) again if that is the case. Which is what you should have tried to do last yearOriginally Posted by Tussockface

What a day! Let me tell you what happened (its amazing how many stories Ive heard of what happened to me!!)
Great run up - really enjoyed it - and didn't go off too quick in the initial hussle out of Llanberis. I was hoping to get to the summit around 55-58 mins so that I could take advantage of the railway path - but was slower than I wanted to be from Clogwyn up Allt Coch - and touched the summit in 61mins - sill a few mins up on last years time - so thought ok - will need a good run down to get as close as possible to 1.30...
After the initial shock to the system of running down i got into my stride and loved the run down Allt Coch - got thru Clogwyn and for some reason had a niggle in my head about going on the grass - for some reason i thought it was a "no go" area so i was concentrating on watching out for a marshall or sign or something - then smack bang whallop - landed on my face and took a good old bang to my shoulder and elbow...i got up quick quickly as there was a camera man there :-) - but Ouch i quickly had the most horrendous cramp in my calves along with a sharp pain in my shoulder - a marshall was quickly there and all I had in my mind was 1.30...1.30...1.30...but my race was over...within moments I had Marshalls/Mountain Rescue helping me - it got VERY cold quickly - I was wrapped up like a Turkey Dinner and a kind lady (i hope to find her) gave me her fleece....I was also lucky that Andy from my running club was on a run (not in the race) and was in Clogwyn - he gave me his Wet weather pants - thanks Andy..owe ya.
My shoulder was put into a sling for protection and to take some of the weight.
I was taken to the Train with 2 other runners (Paul Davies and Gary Jones) and after the initial "Gutted...Gutted...Gutted DNF...- why did we do this...and why didnt we do that" discussion we quickly changed it to "we were lucky"..we then had a good chat on the way down. Hope both of you got home safely - and it was great to meet ya.
We were greeted in Llanberis by our worried families and taken by Ambulance to Gwynedd Hospital for some x-rays etc.
Im fine - just badly bruised (in places where I shouldnt have bruises!) and have a few gashes/scrapes on my lip/face - but nothing to worry about. My knee caps hurt - but guess they took the impact aswell...im still finding gravel...
I left the hospital just after 7pm and was quickly showered (Ouch - ouch - ouch) and all the gravel washed away...and was back in the Vic @ 7.50 for a medicinal Guinness...I spoke to a few people who had read this thread and they were all saying it must of been the wrong footwear choice...let me say this now - Nope! it was my concentration that was wrong..No shoes would of stopped what happened.....so lesson learned for me :-)
Im hoping to thank the Llanberis Mountain Rescue team in the only way I can - by donating to their Charity- along with the Marshalls they were Brilliant - much respect. (another thread will start soon...)
I hope everyone else had a good run - I didnt know who had won until 8pm - but had a feeling it wouldnt of been Wilson - he looked quite tired.
Im probably going to be off for a while until my knee's are better - but hope to be running again VERY soon!
Many thanks for all the messages - but im fine - and will still be using the Solomon's in a mountain near you very soon!

Dylan, glad to hear you're ok (ish). I spoke to you on the way up if you recall (possible concussion?)
We talked about getting to the summit as much under an hour as possible.
I later spoke to you in the Vic and told you I missed the 1:30 by seconds, turns out that I missed it on the clock but my chip time was 1:29.58!!! couldn't be happier!
I had a sprint to the line where I passed 3 runners and wondered if I was being petty, turns out it was well worth it.
Hope you have a speedy recovery. Next year eh
