Highlights here. Looks like great footage.
All we can think is that he took the railways down the hill, got flagged back up to the llanberis path by the marshal, but then in the 10 yards between the railway and the llanberis path another trod heads off which joins up with the ranger path, so he probably took that..can't think what else he could have done...
What an amazing race! This race used to be something that I thought I'd never be able to do, so crossing the line was quite an experience. The only shame was that I'd twisted my ankle coming down Moel Hebog 5 weeks back, so I was about 15 mins behind my target time (I finished 2:10).
On the upside, even though I was holding back because of my ankle and lack of training, I managed to pass 26 runners on the way down (or, 26 runners with faster summit times finished behind me according to the results!). Something to work on for next year!
I wanted to play with the data in the results, so I copied the official results page and added my own functionality. This page: gwilym.net/raswyddfa has the results with sortable columns plus descent times. Feel free to take a look; let me know if you'd like it to do something extra.
During the programme the presenter on the summit said that they had seen the Italian run down the Rhyd Ddu path. The marshall was distracted by some walkers so they both missed each other. The programme did not mention how he found his way back.Any more on this? Italian clearly in first place in S4C footage and then no more.
Oh, and the SnowdonRace Twitter feed says that Wilson *will* be back next year.
shame andi jones didnt do it . i think it would have been a close race
I was there watching. I saw Wilson as he left the tarmac path, not far up the mountain. Would have loved to do it but just didn't fit in.
Well done to everyone who raced.
I think Tim Davies would have been up there as well. Reallt good to see 2 youngsters get the wins though. Not heard of the young Scottish girl before, she flew past me on the climb, just bounced up and I didn't pass her until the bottom of Allt Moses on the descent, but don't really follow Scottish running anymore, but she beat a strong English team with Pippa, Emma and Lauren.
First time doing this one - had a ball. Loved the descent. Felt like I was flying down but at 35mins, bit of a dawdler I see. Can't believe the times some of you guys get down in :w00t:
Cheers all.
Trying to watch footage on S4Clic, but can't get the subtitles working? Keep clicking on the Owl logo, but no joy. Any suggestions?
Glad you're ok Dyl, you were looking good when I saw you on your way down.
Saw Andi Jones with his little boy at the bottom of the hill before the path.
As for my concerns about which shoe, the New Balance I had bought a week earlier were superb, didn't slip anywhere!!
The little Italian would have probably won had he not gone the wrong way, Robbie Simpson was well over a minute behind him at the top.
Also, good to see that Bryson is still an awesome climber even in his 50's. He was 13th to the top.
