Thread: Today's poet

    Re: Today's poet

Evening all...lots of lovely contributions today Af I need to find a positive poem about the ageing process...you have set me a challenge and I will not flinch in meeting it! (but will defer til a later date as quite frankly I am shattered and desperate for a holiday!)...Hes lovely to see you back hope the art is still going well and DT nice to see our fave Neruda back on here...

found this and rather liked it...

    After Love
    Afterwards, the compromise.
    Bodies resume their boundaries.
    These legs, for instance, mine.
Your arms take you back in.
    Spoons of our fingers, lips
    admit their ownership.
    The bedding yawns, a door
    blows aimlessly ajar
    and overhead, a plane
    singsongs coming down.
    Nothing is changed, except
    there was a moment when
    the wolf, the mongering wolf
    who stands outside the self
    lay lightly down, and slept.

And I thought you would have gone for the football haiku page!

It does look a great book. What a simple idea. We should do a wildlife version, or maybe a lakeland summits haiku book. It has got me thinking now.

HHH, I noticed a link to Blurp www.blurb.com this evening on a blog. It didn't load well on my phone but I understand you can upload stuff and have it printed off as a hard copy book

A Fell Poet Society book would really be something!

Lovely. There is so much going on there it seemed like much more than 17 syllables. But by jove, it is!

    Suicide.

    Tried suicide,
It's not what you think there's nowhere to hide,
    You feel all the pain,
From all the loved ones out there that remain,
    You don't break free,
Just lie there alone in your misery,
    There is no light,
To take you away just jet black night,
    One last rush of fire,
You take that last breath then you expire.

    A star
    by Sophie

My world is like an ant and a pig
Some things are small and some things are big
In night I shimmer, sparkle and gleam
    meanwhile children snore and dream
I am surrounded by planets, stars and the gloomy moon
and down in the street there is a doom.

think i can see a bit of a plath influence there!
Magnificent, and contains more than one universal truth too!

i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
    Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
    again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh… And eyes big love-crumbs,

and possibly i like the thrill

of under me you so quite new
