I have mixed views about Inov8 products - some I like and some I don't. The new "skins" fall into the category of those I don't though of course I have yet to try a pair. I can't see them being as good as the vibram fivefingers though I would welcome an attempt on Insiders part to explain why someone should buy the skins instead of a pair of vffs!
I am a totally neutral runner and have had no problems with innov 8 over the years but my last two pairs of mud claw 270s are useless.. They have collapsed inward to the point that I'm convinced that the sole isn't stuck on right. Ive had quite a few pairs of these and never had the problem before. 2 x fell runners that I run with laughed and said your feet are leaning inwards at a stupid angle. When you put the shoes on the ground they lean inward. Ive bought 1 more pair and if they go the same that's it. It's led me to buy a pair of walshs again.
I had exactly the same problem with some other trainers Daz in the past - I thought it was just me! No experience with Mud Claw 270s, but I've had no problems at all with the X-Talons.

The material moulds to your foot and offers fantastic propeception.
For anyone who wants to do anything barefoot but wants a bit of underfoot protection.
I run at least 3 times a week in mine, mainly off road though I have done some 5 mile road runs in them.
I use them as part of my training to strengthen my feet and realign my posture, they have helped me to get rid of aches and pains( IT Band/Achilles) and I have now managed to throw my orthotic & heavily posted NB road shoes. That said you do have to "transition" slowly to any "barefooting" , the first time I ran in them I did 50 metres.
After a day out on the fells I will normally have an easy jog or walk off-road the next day to let everything settle into place and get rid of any stiffness.

I hardly think the only similarity between these two pieces of footwear is limited to that! Can I infer from your list the difference is "no seams, and cheaper"? Or is "Made from different materials" an extra one?
I had this with my last pair of 280s. I thought it was because i over-pronate slightly?!?
Happened to a pair of x talons with me aswell
So as this seems to be a regluar problem inov insider as its the reason I am trying walsh'es as an alternative what is your impartial advice? Is this a design fault and how can people stop it happening
on a different note getting back to the original thread - showed my daughter the 190's today as they are still in the box in the car, her response was "cool shoes Dad" - anyone interested in adoption?

I think your making the right choice if our shoes aren't right for you.
Design fault? Hardly maybe biomechanics or terrain could be one of the reasons.
