[QUOTE=Hanneke;357667]It was a glosrious warm noght here tonight, wasn't it Toff? And a great way to spend it on the bike...

I am a bit race and ride tired after a hard season, so have been ordered off the bike now until I feel like riding again, then wait another day and ride... both physiaclly and mentally tired... so will most likely bin all my September races (Welsh track champs, wellsh 25m tt champs amnd welsh women's RR champs) apart from Three Peaks CX... I have had a succesful first season, you can only do so much, don't want to start hating the bike having gotten a bit stale antired...[/QUOT

Like I say in my blog, love hate, that's what bikes do to you when you ride them hard.

I suggest, put your bike on the 39 ring and leave it there for a week and just do some steady routes and enjoy it. Stick at 15 mph and just have a smile on your face while your riding. I wouldn't just stop hann.
    Well done on your season.

Will you strip the cannon dale down and service it . I usually take the whole bike to pieces and check the frame over. Clean and re grease everything then build it back up
i probably will do when i can get to grips with all the new technology. my last bike still has the gear levers on the frame tube and is all original campag super record.
Just got to build up the tool kit and find the money for a decent workstand which seem to cost a fortune!!

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

Well, as it stands, on another glorious day I don't feel like riding. The last of my 3 originally prescribed rest days. I feel like going for a run and with Three Peaks and the Fell relays looming, that may not be such a bad idea... But my man and mentor will have me on the bike tomorrow, see how I feel... and my bike sponsor wants me to give him a tow at a sportive type event on Sunday, 6-7 hours worth of it, as long as the sun shines, we won't do it in the rain... All that because the Qoroz racing team is riding it. It is a stage of the Tour of Britain, should be fun... avg of 25 km/hr planned but quite lumpy... I just can't drump up the energy and mental requirements to get the edge in training to get the edge in racing. I don't mind pottering...

I really need a work stand... so far I have coped by either turning the bike upside down or sticking it into the turbo, but it isn't ideal... also gathering the required tools one by one, it is an expensive business!

not sure how they they justify such a high cost for something as basic as a stand?

We had a thread on stands before guys. They are a must . Decathlon do a good one that I've got. I'm sure dom recommended it. It's a real quality one.
    Yes the tools are expensive
I've about got everything for both ultra torque and square taper bottom bracket set ups. The taps and facing tool is expensive also the bearing puller.
Nothing is cheap when it comes to bikes eh

Took my bike to work today and in my lunch break I stripped the rear mech down and thoroughly cleaned it. Jockey wheels etc. Shining like a new pin now.I find it's best to do these jobs little and often. I know what you mean about struggling without a stand hann. I made one years ago at work which is dead easy but it was on the heavy side.

Just looked it's a hap g stand at decathlon. £50. It's a brilliant stand and really well built and def enough for what we will ever do. You don't need a 200quid stand

Wasn't me, but if it's any good I'll be whizzing up to Giltbrook after work tomorrow.
