Never fall down and appear to have critically damaged your ankle while doing the bronte way fell race such that two or three runners stop to help you and, even though you've fallen over just 100 yards from road access, the yorkshire air ambulance is called to air lift you out in case you've severely broken your leg... which in fact you have'nt but instead have an ankle sprain or slight bruising or something

Or indeed a bracing little recce of the same... Took me until sometime in June for me to get all the feeling back in a couple of my toes!!!

For as little as I actually race, I always have half a dozen safety pins stashed somewhere in my car. Also, I'm sure I've shaved minutes off my times by folding my race number to make it more aerodynamic.

Never fold your race number if there's a sponsors name on it. Some people were getting told off for that over the loudspeaker at Grasmere!

I always fold mine and attatch it to my tracksters. I can't do with the way they flap around in the wind when they're on my vest, plus i'm a cold person so i'm likely to be shedding or adding layers as i go along. I'm saddened by the argument that companies are resentful of number folders because of the loss of exposure for their company logos, it just doesn't sound like cricket to me, the less accountants there are in fell running the better. I would gladly pay extra for the cost of the number, perhaps this argument could be brought to a close by someone who knows PB asking him what he thinks?

I'd agree with that, never been as cold as last year's Tanky's trog on Bleaklow. XOTF 2009 and The Fellsman 2009 don't even come close. It's a damp cold that chills you t'bone in the Peak District. Or maybe i'm justing getting old and soft

Sounds awful, glad i don't have the distance in me to make an attempt on Tanky's! Half the challenge must be the time of year.
