Is the running route half marathon (ish) length? It looks like it, but I aint too good with metric stuff? Also, how much ascent is involved?

Happened to me last year. Had to enlist the help (ahem) of two walkers to pull me out, thank goodness!

I'm in for the long route myself Rodders. Say hello at the start. About time we met - we're practically neighbours!

Aye Jodg, will do. I bet we have passed each other over the tops during the past few years. I'm off for a recce this morn, doing all but the Hades Edge bits. Starting & finishing at the Iron Gates CP should iron the kinks out.

Back & scrubbed down! did 15 miles of the long route. Broke the crust of three bogs, in no higher than my ankle! Be aware that there is a field of rams on the descent from Carelecotes.

count me in for the 23M
don't know the area at all, so will be using it more as a navigation exercise than anything else!

A mile or so over a half marathon and about 2000ft. Most of the climbing is done on the first hill with a 2-3 smaller climbs later on.
