Today's Plastic Bag

I don't know what you're all on about, i never get any of these bags through the post. Sometimes we get free pens in the post from charities along with an apology for sending it.

I take my snap to work in an orange carrier bag which i got when i bought my last tub of electrolyte from the tri shop. The good thing about plastic carriers is that they're not made of paper, but this unfortunately means they have that cheap plasticy feel a bit like the inside of a Kia Sedona or a Daewoo Nubira. Some plastics are biodegradable but we should be careful not to reuse too many plastic bags in case they spontaneously biodegrade and you lose a bagful of fresh conkers all over the floor. I always look out for carriers which have reinforced handles as this means i can fill them with more conkers initially, or carry more sandwiches to work. Reinforcing of certain areas of a carrier bag should be looked upon as a value added exercise by retailers as customers will come more often in order to raise the mean standard of their carrier bag hoard. I don't like supermarkets who are tight with carrier bags and make you ask for them before issuing you with one only, they should respect the needs of customers especially in conker season.

I've just nipped off to carry out a random inspection of some of the carriers in our house, looking for signs of splitting in the seams etc...all was well.

Carrier rhymes with the word harrier which is often used in running club names, such as Wharfedale or Eyryie.

I'm jealous! came home after a week in t' lakes and not a single charity bag in the pile of unopened post - loads of takeaway leaflets though - think I need to put a notice up "delivering a takeaway leaflet? If so please put straight in the green wheely bin to your left" coz that's where they all end up.

An interesting last (possibly?) bag for the week. Midlands Air Ambulance, but the collection is being made by European Textile Recycling who will generously donate £40 per tonne to the Air Ambulance.

I wonder how many bags are needed to generate £40???

the number of leaflets I get for takeaways in a week drives me mad !
I don't eat kebab s**t nor do I eat pizzas,burgers and Indian every day of the bloody week !!!!

and in other news: my snot green Lishmans bag has gone to the great Leeds landfill to biodegrade over the course of the next gazillion years. I have now enlisted a high gauge M&S bag (again in snot green) for humping my running shoes around.

RNLI bag today. Collections operated by Local Community Recycling Services, who donate £50 a tonne. Air Ambulance are getting a duff deal there??

Cystic Fibrosis Trust today. They get an A+ for the smallest package containing the bag (5" x 6").

"The bags will be collected by a commercial partner who is sharing a portion of the proceeds." How much is a "portion" I wonder ?
