The liquid I was carrying was enough to be honest, although the farm cafe just before chapel le dale advertising a pint of orange squash for 80p psychologically made me as thirsty as heck. There's a spring running off the saddle of Ingleborough that allowed me to refill my water bottle, drink it down in one and refill it again for the final 5 mile drag in. Carrying huge amounts of liquid will truly mess you up, as the extra weight just makes you hotter quicker, sweat more profusely and thus more thirsty; by cruel irony, you need all the extra liquid because you're carrying it in the first place
I was well short of food though. I have trouble eating on long runs and couldn't buy the two bananas needed in the petrol station on the way to Horton first thing. I didn't fancy anything else and made do with what I already had. My legs were fine all the way round but I definitely was running low on the enrgy front come the finish.
The Settle Loop (sort of) with some bits added on at the end
Circa 13 miles and 2,000 ft
Route here
Today was the day of the Settle Loop Trail Race but, unfortunately I couldn't make it. Instead I ran much of the route first thing this morning with Harry, although we veered off the proper route at the end through Attermire Scar to get a good vantage point as the race proper trailed past. A beautiful run in lovely conditions. Harry rolled in sheep poo but that another story!!
This has got to be one of my best pictures yet of Pen y Ghent
The Stockdale valley from the top of Warrendale Knotts
Looking out for the fell racers who would soon be appearing over the rise from Settle in the centre of the picture (to the right of the wall) - Warrendale Knotts on the right and High Hill on the left and Pendle far left in the distance

Great photos Stolly.
We were up there last week, poking round the caves with the head torches.
Good fun.
Wonderful photos as ever Stolly, they always make me want to run (which i can't at the minute as buggered right knee) but they may indirectly be responsible for an extra lap or two at the swimming pool)
Simon Fell, Park Fell and Ingleborough from Austwick
Very nearly 16 miles and 3,000 feet of climb
Route here
Austwick --> Norber --> Long Scar --> Nick Pot --> the shoulder of Ingleborough --> the western flank of Simon Fell and Park Fell --> Park Fell trig --> Simon Fell --> Ingleborough trig --> Little Ingleborough --> Gaping Gill --> Trow Gill --> Long Lane and Thwaite Lane --> Austwick
And what a truly brilliant brilliant run! On Saturday (yesterday) I'd run my Plover Hill and Pen Y Ghent 10 miler with Rachel (shaunandrachel from the forum) which is sort of my favourite run in the world but, after today, maybe its my second favourite. Good timing too as the 3 peaks cyclocross front runners hit Simon Fell and Ingleborough almost exactly as I did returning from my loop out around Park Fell.
