No, everyone was in together apart from the 30 or so Elites. There might be more of a class breakdown to come. I seem to remember they published maps, routes, etc after the initial results last year.

I know last year there was a separate mixed class, cos we won a prize in it

Looking at the map I'm glad I didn't risk it despite my knee, there look to have been some pretty brutal descents!

There were prizes given in the different classes, it's just the lists displayed grouped everyone together (with a class column so you could see who was what). And, yes, there were some pretty brutal descents! There was a 40 point control on top of Hartsop Dodd which I went to from Hayeswater. Then it was straight back down in to the valley... my legs were suffering after that.

Yes, my partner and her replacement-for-me chose that one as well, it finished them off rather.

I'd have been tempted (from the comfort of an armchair) by the 40/40/50 pointers in the bottom left corner, I wonder if anyone else went that way?

I though about it, but it there was no easy way to get back to the camp after Hartsop Dodd if time was short. I'd have been better forgetting the 40 pointer and going for the 35 near Angletarn Pikes and then on round Ulswater and possibly up on to Beda Fell before camp... I certainly wouldn't have lost any time doing that. Live and learn though, eh!

Yes a few did, but it was a long way out. I went to the top left and took the big ones round Ulswater. I pushed on to the knoll by Angle tarn and started to head to Hayeswater before common sense kicked in and I returned via Beda Head Cairn.

I'm curious as to people's route choices on day 2. I was 3rd Vet after day 1 with 235, so I went for it on day 2 - going over Angle Tarn and Hayeswater to the big 40 pointers on Gray Crag and Blea Tarn, with one final push to the 30 above the Eagle OOB. Finished with 4 mins to go, but only 170 pts - ended up 4th Vet by a few points. Pushed it much harder on day 2, so presume a more northerly sweep of the CPs was the more productive?? My 3rd time on the RAB - for me the best and most enjoyable event on the calendar (the weather helps!!).
