And thankyou for the spelling correction.
Don't worry al, you will soon be driving and paying through the nose to do it. Insurance, servicing, tax, cost of car, fuel, tyres, blah blah blah. Then when your older and your kids are seventeen without knowing it you actually set up your own taxi company. He he.
No bike for me today, watched the world championship road race again.

Ah, Ive already got the car, had new tyres, mot, service and £600 odd for provisional insurance!
Im dreading when I actually have to properly insure it.....last time I got a quote the cheapest was over 3000 grand...and thats for a 1.4

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I set off this morning with the intention of a quiet bimble up to Feizor for a pleasant lunch and then an amble back at my leisure. Just after I left the house I had a change of mind and decided to be more social and join the club training ride. Seeing as the season is more or less over I expected a semi social pace....................I am now stuck to the sofa wishing I had gone to Feizor!

5 of us left Harwood Bar and then another 10 tagged on at Whalley followed by another 5 at Ribchester. The pace gradually increased and the long steady climb out of Ribchester was the start of the unofficial road race. By Longridge 6 or 7 had been left behind and the dozen or so left were covered in spit and snot. 2 of the club's fastest time trialists were sat on the front pounding out a consistant 28mph, irrespective of the undulations. Fortunately I felt surprisingly good tucked in the bunch given my lack of anything resembling training. We flew through Garstang and went accross the A6 for a small loop toward the coast before heading back to Scorton for a brew. The pace continued at the same rate, apparently they were riding to a specific power output (Ergomo power meters) so at least it was consistant! By the cafe stop at 32 miles the average was 21.3 which is the fastest training ride I remember doing on this route. A litre of tea + soup + tuna sarnis were taken on board before 10 of us opted to return through the Trough at a sensible pace. It started off sensibly but soon wound up and the group splintered. I cramped my way over the climb and suffered on the lanes back to Whalley, often riding solo until I hooked up with the back 2 markers. From Whalley back to my house is 5.2 miles, 4.5 of it uphill! Given my lack of fitness it hurt a lot and my planned run in the morning is looking very unlikely now. Final average was 19.2. I need to lose weight and get fit - too much fannying about taking pictures at races instead of training/racing Nice day for it though.
