if you are worried about the route, make friends on the first climb with a similarly paced chap (preferably with a beard - good sign of an experienced fellrunner) in a pale blue top (rossendale) or white with an orange stripe (clayton) they will have done it hundreds of times....
There is a large entry so there will be quite a crowd to follow !
