Looking for Eric - Very good film and I enjoyed watching those Cantona goals again as well.

Excellent interview with Ken Loach on the Jarvis Cocker show on 6 music, apparently the lead actor didn't know that Cantona was going to be in the film until he turned round in the bedroom, genuine surprise. Brilliant.

Check out 'Happy, Go Lucky' by Mike Leigh.

surely the best signature theme music of any film ever?

"Barfly" based loosely on a few days in the life of the poet Charles Bukowski (see Today's poet thread). Mickey Rourke (who else ?) played Bukowski and Faye Dunaway played the other leading role of his partner Wanda. Great acting performances from both of them.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night. Great, weird film, and Jim Carrey was surprisingly good in it.

    Dedicated to Derby Tup

Cronaco di un Amore (1950) Michelangelo Antonioni. Just arrived from lovefilm.com. Now where is my Barolo?

"Triumphant vitality", tender vigour" - David Thomson (probablythe most highly regarded living film critic).

"If the form is more conventional than what was to follow the mood of decadent ennui , alienation and anguish is instantly recognisable". Time Out

I really liked that film too. Haven't watched it for a long time.

OK. But since actors are cattle tell me who wrote it or directed it (without looking it up!)

    Re: Todays Movie

I've just watched "Music and Lyrics" starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. For some reason I think I should hate every Hugh Grant film ever made. But I don't, I think he's made some great films, particularly the ones that Richard Curtis has been involved in.
