    Re: Broken Fibula

I feel your pain Amex, they can be shocking at getting things sorted at times. I remember sitting in hospital waiting to be discharged and they took 8 hours to do it because nobody could be arsed doing the paperwork. They had come round at 10am and the doctor said I could go home so my wife sorted a baby sitter out and came and sat with me until 6pm which was a bloody joke.

Chin up mate and hope you get mobile soon, kick off a bit that usually helps a little

to day after the post had been still nothing, so i rang the hospital to see when i would be in________
The lady had no record of me.
She said that she would see the consultant today and let me know when i can be fitted in:
29 th of fecking November is the best date they can do, the care has been fantastic its just they are so bloody busy that they just can't give the care and attention to detail that is needed it seems nothing to most that an extra two weeks is not bad but i have a business to run i cant drive cant weight bear its just shit
I'm so sorry to be reading this. It's all to familiar to me; I've had a similar problems over the last couple of years. Great care if you can get to be seen.

Try phoning them and asking to be put on the list for a cancellation, then keep phoning if you don't get one. This worked for me more than once.

    Good luck

    Stef

    Update:
Had final operation yesterday to remove pins that went through both bones:thumbup:

    Can now partial weight bear.

Still have crutches but they are the Elbow type:w00t:

It feels good to put my foot down even if its in snow, drove to work this morning for the first time since 17th September.

Every day three times a day i have been doing stretch movements with my foot to try and get it moving, yesterday the Consultant said he feels i will get back up to 80-85 % i am aiming for 86%

    Update- 31-1-11
Not a lot to say really, swelling still prevalent gets worse during day, which restricts movement, am walking and feel my legs are getting stronger, over this weekend i have walked 8 miles with about 2000 foot of climb over Pendle in two outings, not a lot i know but god it felt fantastic.
Up is easy! its the bloody down hill that i look like a drunk sea merchant that has been at sea for 50 years and steps on to land! i am (sorry for this) having to use walking poles for the down hill just to steady myself.
i am still trying to convince myself it will take time to get right i am just so bloody impatient.
We are off to New Zealand next week for our 25th wedding anniversary cant wait, i asked consultant "am i ok to bungee jump" he just looked at me and shook his head??????
i suppose i have to understand that time is still needed, but i sit here smiling, so all is not too bad
