I live in Bailiff Bridge and I know part of the route passes nearby, wouldn't mind having a watch so does anyone know roughly what time you'd expect the first teams through that area?

Been on the course this afternoon, running in the snow was fine but the hard packed snow and ice were deadly.
Very little in the way of thawing and parking would have been a masive problem around Blackshore Head.
I predict there would have been serious injurys if the race had gone ahead.
On todays run the correct call has been made.
Went round Leg 3 this lunchtime.
What can I say, it was beautiful, fantastic, the best views ever.
HOWEVER,
The car parks at Tod are ICE.
The start of the climb is bottle ice. No chance running in any sort or off road trainers, needed ice spikes.
The accent was equally as slippy, at one point I was sliding down faster then I could walk/run up.
Across the tops, the snow was so compacted that you took your life in your hands. The snow occasionally turned to ice to give you a warning!
The only time it got anywhere near runnable was across the golf course, and then big rock.
The last dessent was again un-runnable.
The road was okay to the changeover.
If this had been raced, someone would have got hurt!
But, the views were as alway, fantastic.
Thanks for the update FB. Roads and footpaths/tracks pretty crummy even in the flatlands of York and around, so did think earlier in the week it would be touch and go for the relay. Shame as stacks of effort gone in as ever by Halifax. Been a bit disappointed with some of the stick they've taken on this forum. Your post clearly shows they made the right call and to be honest even if there had been some freaky caribbean weather and all the ice cleared by a miracle, well it was still the right call as you can't hang on and wait for the what ifs. Any, LOL, caribbean weather - recorded 2c when I jumped in to my car tonight - gonna break out the sunnies and shorts tomorrow for the expected 5c - scorchio!
I guess they needed to make the decision early with alot of people travelling to the race from across the country definitely the right decision given the conditions throughout the week.
I managed to get out on Wednesday and Thursday night and there was still alot of ice around making for entertaining running and mountain biking.
For those who are still intending on making a weekend of it and running the Calderdale Way regardless there has been a big thaw overnight and alot of fairly consolidated ice has disappeared.
Oh dear dear dear!
