Cool, might have another bash at this. Loved it earlier in the year.

In anticipation of next year's FRA metrication, I'd appreciate it if anyone doing the whole route as a reccie or race would PM me their Garmin readings. Was out there yesterday - plenty of ice on some of the tracks, some helpfully solid frozen bogs, and some less helpfully slightly frozen bogs that had me up to my shins in chilled mud. Not cold enough up there to free the evil tussocky marsh round Cock Hill though. Brr.

Reccied this today. Bloody hard as nails especially through the marshes/tussocks! Glad to know the route roughly as I can imagine it is very easy to go wrong! I definitely need a couple more long runs to get me ready!

Yeah doing this and did it last year.A tough run and some classic West Yorkshire bogs.I remember it being very foggy last year and getting lost (one of many) trying to find the last checkpoint. Can't believe how many footpaths cross those west yorkshire moors!

I once read, somewhere, that there are more footpaths around Old Town than anywhere else in the UK. But I can't prove it as I can't remember where.

    Re: Wadsworth Trog

Anyone know if the checkpoints are manned and obvious to spot?

I've done a reccie so I'm confident about finding my way round but I've never done a race of this length, or with so many checkpoints. Just wondering what to expect.

    Cheers

Most are but there are a few that aren't. Certainly the one at Cock Hill and the following two on the east moor are. Shackleton Knoll isn't nor is the one at the top o' stairs.
