Recce run tomorrow, so if anyone's out there about 10:30 (hitting the moor about 11) say hello. I'm starting at guiseley retail park and running the first section as far as the wall on the way up bingley moor, then heading across to the scout hut to cut off the ilkley moor section, coming off towards burley moor and picking the route back up there all the way back. Should be interesting

This is where I think Piper's Crag is.
Been looking at the route again and reckon you could be right about that. I'm not sure now. Anybody else got any thoughts as to whether when you come down on the west side of Ilkley Moor towards Piper's Crag, it's the first path away from the woods or the second?

I haven't done it before but I know this area fairly well, and I think it's the path leading off to the right just after the bend in the wall which encloses the plantation, the one we'll be alongside. Like the blurb says, there's an old boundary stone pretty much AT the turn. The path leading down to Piper's Crag is well worn and clear to see.
I'm looking forward to this one!

Recce'd the first and last 7m today (although a but later than anticipated) mostly straightforward. I'm not 100% convinced I took the usual route through Esholt woods but it came out in the right place so doesn't really matter. Also, I agree the descent from Baildon moor is tricky. I went for a small trod that more or less pointed from the corner of the caravan park straight at the road crossing with the cattle grid. It was quite a small path but I think that's the one I'll be using anyway. The last climb up the Chevin is pretty evil

I'm hoping to do the Ilkley moor section next week, although aside from the small section from whetstone gate to pipers crag, I know the moor pretty well. I was tempted to check it out today but really needed to get the last section done and would've run out of time.

    Thanks. I've amended this accordingly.

I've never been quite sure since they changed the route a couple of years ago. You used to come down at Whetstone Gate.

Muddy Retriever, you've posted a link which can only be accessed by viewers you accept as friends on Map My Run. May one be allowed to petition for such status? A chap doesn't like to seem pushy.

This looks more or less right to me - although I've only reccied from Esholt to Menston (although I'm familiar with the start from the Guiseley Gallop).

The only bit I'm not sure on, is the route from the Trig on Baildon moor to the road. I'm still not 100% sure exactly where the self-clip is. I've been told that there's normally someone on the CP, but I guess at this stage, there'll still be people to follow even if there isn't.

I haven't done any recces, really. I know a bit of it (Rombalds Moorsy stuff) and I'm going to rely on my navigational skills (ha ha!) to get me round the rest on the day; I'm going to enjoy it, and use it as a chance to practice my map reading.
...whaddya mean, it's got "F***-up" written all over it???

Did the Ilkley Moor section last week, they have changed the Chevin bit slightly.
