    Hi Paul
I am afraid you are stuck with 45th rather than 47th. The reason for this has been explained in another post. We welcome runners (you are a great crowd and one day may want to join us) but if you are in a championship we are not geared up to provide timing to the second. I wanted to explain this to CVFR when I heard they were putting us in their championship but did not manage it due to holidays away.

My first LDWA event - loved it had a great time - superb organisation and a very enjoyable day. Fantastic cakes too!

I don't care at all about position or even timing, other than that I time myself to see how I'm doing against previous years. I love LDWA events, & I'm perfectly happy when when they're not timed at all (my last event was the Reservoir Roundabout, which was exactly that). I've certainly no complaints about the Hebden - one of the best events there is!

I heard someone talking on the next table in the canteen that someone may have passed away while out on the route, very sad if they have.

That would be me... couldn't find my keys in the morning! Ended up walking the short course - number 72.

Sorry to hear about the fatality. Condolences to the family.

In that case I was 43rd cos 2 at least people who actually did the half were credited with doing the full.

But more importantly condolences to the family of the person who died, I understand it was a male walker.

Deepest sympathies to family and friends of the walker that passed away, as Clive mentioned earlier he was doing something he loved, hope his passing was painless and his spirit walks on.

Yes. I regret it is true. It happened before CP1 when an entrant collapsed. A number of fellow walkers tried to resucitate him as did the ambulance team when they arrived but it was to no avail. His partner who was on the long route and not walking with him was well ahead and was told at CP4. She withdrew and then was taken to the mortuary by Hilary, who agreed to deliver the sad news to her. A very sad episode but as has already been reflected, he was doing what he wanted to do at the time and did not suffer.
