Hann you need extra leverage. You have probably overtightened the nut.

Get someone to hold the chain whip for you whilst you undue the nut ( presume your turning it the correct way yes, anticlockwise)
I use a longer handled t bar to get mine off.
You need to go easy when your tightening them up. Torque settings will be on the nut.

So get a torque wrench and plenty of grease when you put it back on.
You should remove your sprockets frequently, also seat post and pedals, pedals even more so. If your pedals are stuck just remove the cranks and put them in a soft jaw vice.

You want park tool grease when your re fitting them

    Hann just remembered
PEDROS do a Pro tool , yellow handled extra long that fits over the cassete socket nut. Not cheap but good quality.
Wiggle do them cos I was going to get one.

Thanks for that Daz... no nut involved, as it was on the track bike... when I take my casette of my geared bikes, I always have double leaverage, from chinawhip in one direction and bolt in the other. I just use a very long handled tool on the bolt and my chinawhip for my geared bikes also has a longer handle than the one for the track bike...

The ex bf cut the handle of the track chainwip down, so that it would fit in my toolbag silly bugger! I need the leaverage and it fitted (just) when I squeezed it in diagonally... But then again, he is a bit anally retentive, so it had to fit in the bliddy pockets grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Oh and I never over tighten things... partly because I am not srong enough but mainly because it is unneccesary and increases the risk of stripping threads and things getting stuck, which can be expensive!!!

Pedals come off regularly and are always greased when put back on, but I don't do the seatposts, will have a go at them this Sunday, as my bikes need some cleaning/maintenance before I start using them all again when the weather gets better.

Only using track and cross bike at the moment...
