Given that you have just weighed in at 10st 10 you were less than 9 stone when running seriously?! ...and I thought I was a lightweight once at 9st 7 at my mid-20s peak!!

But can you cycle downhill faster because you weigh more?

I've not done the stupid training for a good few years, but have run very little at all in the last 18 months due to injury. Age seems to have caught up with me. I haven't raced since May 2009. That needs to be rectified this year!

There is a lad at Ilkeston RC Dom who was very quick like you was. He gets injured a lot and had a year out. He now only does cyclocross all year. hes never looked back. Tells me that he just did to much in his teens and twenties. Be good to see you at a race soon .

Point of debate from us cyclists in the Peak. If Chris Boardman broke the Hour Record on a gear ratio of 54 - 14 which at 100rpm works out at 31mph, then a 53 - 11 at 100rpm works out at 38.7mph.....Please discuss this conundrum, or maybe we should be hiking down to the velodrome!!!!!

Another 60 mins on the rollers before 2 hr run tonight.

Just about managing to get through an hr in the 53 x 11 at over 100 cadence. Hard work and a pain keep swapping sprockets . Having to use the old chain whip as my new one has flown away.

Of course Chris Boardman would have had a higher cadence, but on his best effort, the 1996 record he got 35,0298 mph. Plus fixed is supposed to give you an advantage when you get it turning.

Of course Chris was in the Superman position when he achieved this great record. I tried this position on the Turbo..... but it didn't seem to make any difference
