Ho dear, sorry old girl, I take it you had a good run.
I only saw the winners comming in before I cycled back to civilisation.

    Trog Provisional Results

Sorry these results weren't up by teatime as I had hoped, but I had to get the dibbers to a night Orienteering event by 17:30! I then thought I'd run round the Chevin woods in the dark!

So that reminds me to thank the following for the loan of the e-punching kit: East Pennine Orienteers for the computer, download equipment, flags, stakes and control boxes, and some dibbers. Thanks to Airenteers/CLARO for the loan of their dibbers, and thanks also to EBORienteers for their dibbers. If you fancy some more serious Navigation check out the British Orienteering Website and look at the fixtures diary.

As we were using orienteering software I had to use Orienteering age classes. M21 and W21 are open age classes for men and women respectively. The M 40 etc for the men and W 40 etc for the women.

For some reason I can't put these results in a readable format. There are a couple of glitches to put right. Andrew Dixon is actually Adrian Dixon, and Joe Craven is actually Nigel Craven. Jim Clegg actually beat Phil Scarfe in a sprint to the line, but was so knackered couldn't get his dibber in the finish box. A couple of you missed checkpoint 5 and 7. So if you PM me a description of where/how you may have missed them I can reinstate you. Hope you all had a good time. I know some of you hate the SI dibber system, and some of you love it. For us it meant that we could account for everyone and not worry that any one was lost.(Other than in the shower, no name mentioned!) Also it means we can use less marshalls, which with some of the weather we have had in the past is a blessing. I have marshalled out at Sheepstones in the snow, and it is a long 3 to 4 hours!
Will get a proper set of results on CVFR website as soon as poss.
    Enjoy.

Presumably because three people who finished before you hadn't downloaded.

    Possibly the right answer

Another question oh wise one - there were lots of photographers on the course, apart from Ady, any other pics to see?

    1 pair mizunos
    brown fleecy jumper
    towel
    adidas water bottle

PM me to arrange to get your kit back. Shoes have now been cleaned (in case you just left them behind because you couldn't face the clean up!)

    Re: Trog Provisional Results

by heck that was hard work

that last southward stretch up to the last manned checkpoint was pure agony - thanks to the Ripon and Dark Peak runners for taking us the right way there. But weirdly enjoyed the last steep pull up the bank ...

through that sort of bog, 20 miles is too long for me - call me soft but it just becomes an exercise in pain for the last four miles, I stop enjoying it. Me and bog just don't get on.

still, delighted to come in under the four-hour mark, and it ws brilliantly organised, and great to see Hursty and soz to Deby Tup for being too knackered to spot him at first as he came in with stef (I think?)

    Re: Trog Provisional Results

Glad to have had a go at 'The Beast' at last, and it was much as I'd expected. There aren't many runners in the 'tail' for this one and I knew from spotting familiar runners in previous years' results that I was going to be at the back of the field. So it proved, and my time of 5 hrs was pretty much as I'd predicted too.
Despite finishing only just behind DT and Stef, we hardly ran together at all, as their tactic seemed to be to start slowly and finish strongly whilst I employed the cunning strategy of fading rapidly throughout the second half. In particular, my legs appeared disinclined to bend or do any effective work at all when going downhill.

Thanks to all involved for putting on this classic event.
Thanks also to Antisocial for describing me as looking 'svelt'. A rare compliment indeed. I hope your new glasses arrive shortly.

Yes but i also did ask if your apparently slimline figure was due a violent bout of sickness and diarrhea. If i remember correctly you put it down to optical illusion.

It's a total pig of a race though isn't it. I faded badly too, when you are feeling strong 2 miles is about 20 mins away, when you start to fade and it could be 2 days away.
