Ah now I know who you are. Say hello next time we meet. There was a bit of debate amongst our group "Shouldn't we be a bit further right?" At which point we struck across the tussocks and joined the correct route at the ventilation shaft. I wasn't sure what the shaft was for, but there is a photo and more information here. It seems it's a listed building.

Thats always an interesting part of the race I've found. I managed to find a nice trod that lead me to the right of the shaft, then I just skipped across to the shaft and picked up the main trod, well I say skipped, more like hobbled with killer cramp!

Definitely a better line than last year, where I just cut right at point blank into the tussocks and somehow came out just above the shaft, lucky!

Anyone spotted any more photos of saturday yet?

I'd say 4,000 feet sounds bang on (or maybe the 3,800 mentioned by others). What I liked about the route was that it was nire on runnable all the way apart from the short climb from a reservoir early doors and that final short sharp steep bastard at the end.

I too went wrong near some kind of building not before checkpoint 13 - I was following a Clem runner along a main path but then realised he'd hacked off to the right through the tussock grass and swamp land, with all the other runners behind me having veered off a couple of hundred yards back. I have no idea whether there was an obvious trod that I just missed or not or whether this bit was down to just taking a line. Having not run or recce'd the route I was largely depending on being able to follow others . The thing is I just assumed the Clem runner had screwed up and, rather than continue to follow him, I took a cut my losses line through some awful stuff to join a trod being followed by the rest of the race. Needless to say the Clem guy ended up taking a difficult but faster line and probably did know what he was doing! Drat and double drat!

Good to chat with you again Stolly. You're a bit of a machine when it comes to the uphill bits.

Marvin I think you might be exagerating there; I was mostly fine on the hills but my wheels started to fall off a bit on that muddy wet climb back up towards the radio mast. You seemed to just get going at that point and fairly whizzed past me

I see the results are now on the CVFR website here. Any chance of a full set of the results with times and place at all the checkpoints?

There's still quite a few of you out there whose feet are going to get frayed at the edges this weekend...shoes and other lost kit still to be claimed. All freshly laundered now - only because I couldn't stand the smell any longer!

In my post trog daze I also managed to leave a large A3 laminated organisers map for Heptonstall Fell Race - anyone spotted it yet?

I've added them to the CVFR website.
