    Jungfrau Marathon

    I entered !
Perhaps the most beautiful race in the world. Did it in 1994. I entered also 2 years ago but had to miss because of Achille injury. Hopefully better luck this time.

Good luck Gambatte, ran this one in 2004 - possibly the finest finishing place in the world (just below the ice field under the North Face) - great memories.

    Jungfrau Opens Today

This one has been tempting me for a few years and entry opens today.

Must be a strong candidate for the Foreign Jolly 2011.

Who has done it and is it as good as the adverts?

Whats the cheapest way to get there from the North West?

What accomodation can anyone recommend and any other tips?
Biriani for endurance, pathia for speed.

Fantastic race done it 3 times.....the first miles are on tracks and some fairly flat roads including a run around the streets of Interlaken. It starts to get interesting after Lauterbrunnen when you hit the wall that is the climb to Wengen. Lots of forest roads and tracks and not much real off road stuff apart from the final climb up a glacial morain to the highest point where the train to the Jungfraujoch dissapears into to the bowels of the Eiger. Big entry so expect to be always surounded by lots of other people. Best time for me 4 hrs 19 mins which is reasonable. Dont get carried away and set off too fast as the real work starts on the climb to Wengen. Fantastic atmosphere with lots of cheering crowds in Lauterbrunnen and in Wengen. Highly recommended. Not the cheapest but we have always driven down and had a 2-3 weeks holiday in the area, great walking area, great mountainbiking area. Also did the Eiger bike challenge ( See the MTB page on the Rossendale Harriers website) Hardest thing I have ever done on a bike !
