    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I had Gatorskins on my bike & they were great tyres, but they were a bit smelly when I was on the turbo in a tiny room/broom cupboard. I've got GP4000s on at the moment, which although more fragrant I fear they are going to explode soon. I'll be back to Gatorskins when that happens.

I'm considering selling my TT bike & getting a cyclocross bike.

Does anyone have an opinion on what I should get/avoid. I'll be happy to buy from the classifieds as I think there may be a few coming up as we're at the end of the season & the fact that people may be upgrading to the now legal disc brake crossers.

    Cheers all ;-)

Paul Milnes is always worth a look - often got second hand in, or will build you up a bike if you see a frame you like.

    Ooh todays bike ride

Light enough now for a cross country morning commute to chesterfield - 12 miles with extra hills (took an hour)

    Anyone fancy this?

Bike + cake + beer + (potential running) Weekend in the peak 11 March

Sorry for shamelss plug - my mates are organizing - ostensibly a bike weekend out of Bretton in the peak - but awesome running on abney moor straight from the hostel as well! 2 x 100k rides (with potential for extensions/ shortcuts and running as mood and weather dictate) enough leaders to cater for all abilities - check out some new roads (not to mention cafes!) in the Peak

Oh forgot to mention - you get to go to the fabulous Bretton Barrel - without having to worry about driving home!

a ratty whisker under 50 miles today

club meet up at 9:45 - intended to head out at 8:30 but was 8:45, to get 11 miles i before main club run. Then working really hard to keep up bout 5000 feet (1524m) climb - average 13mph which is quite a bit faster than 50 miles last week albeit with less slush and group benefit - when i could hang on! Don't feel as totally destroyed either.

Have a look on the "Planet X" website at their "Uncle John" with various build permutations - if you are looking for a full-on competition bike. If you are looking for a recreational crosser / rough-stuff tourer then their sister company On*One have their "Pompetamine" with Avid disc-brakes and Shimano Alfine hub gears! Currently have 25mm Gatorskins on the Planet X Ti Sportive/Audax bike, appear to be a dependable tyre.

    whatan idiot!

it says he felt threatened by people banging on his car, but from the footage the majority of people he plows into were riding well in front of his car in a chilled out manner!
