Fantastic advice - I went too fast last year at the first couple of hills and it all went wrong after that until Dent and I got my second wind - but by then it was too late and I could never regain the time where I bombed out.

Exactly the same with me. I felt dreadful on the ridge run after Gragareth but a good feed at Dent got me going again.

Same here. Except my second wind didn't make an appearance until Stonehouse. I can remember clear as anything getting to the top of Gragareth (13 miles in), setting off along the ridge and thinking "shit... this is going to be a deeply unpleasant 49 miles". Turns out it was a deeply unpleasant 15 miles or so, but the second half was much better. Enjoyable even! The worst part of the whole day was discovering on arriving at the finish around 3.30am that the cooked breakfasts wouldn't start being served until 7am. I was unconsolable.

Oh how the little things you set in your mind keep your spirits up and drive you on .... then when they dont happen it is the worlds worst disaster !! :w00t: I have worn that T-Shirt a few times and had to have a 'quiet moment' to myself !

True. Thankfully I fell asleep on the floor shortly afterwards and woke up just in time to be near the front of the queue!

    Update from the Fellsman website:

Due to a variety of issues the Handbook has been somewhat delayed this year. It is now ready to collect from the printers and should be in the post within the next 7 days. We apologise for this delay, if you have not received yours by saturday the 16th of April please get in touch. Thank you for your patience.
