Blimey Daz, some serious miles being cranked up there! Managed a belated outing today, the planned 80 reduced to 60, time pressures and train strikes, its a long sorry tale! Anyway, tried to meet up with the lads doing 80 but clearly missed them so just kept going in a pennance sort of way, beyond Maesteg, through Cerau, don't stop there, your bike will be knicked from underneath you and sold for drugs in a jiffy! Somehow ending up in Abergwynfi, the jewel of the valleys as OGB says, for the second time this week. Good climb over the Bwlch, but utterly freezing wind once on the top and all the way down to Treorchy and beyond. Knew things were grim when the gritting lorry gave me the once over with salt on his travels. So cold, didn't dare stop otherwise would have been frozen to the spot and bike knicked and sold for drugs etc. Didn't warm up until the roundabout of death just north of Cardiff and trundled in feeling a little weary and very hungry!

That sounds like a pretty epic ride Toff! Not sure when I last reported, think it was Thursday... but was on the boards for 3 good hours on Friday, starting to feel like a proper cyclist again at last!

Saturday I spent at my bike sponsors team launch and got myself a snazzy Ti cross frame with disc brake mounts to build into my ideal 3 peaks cx bike :-O Gt carbon forks from him too, to go woth it... looking at Hope kit and a Shimano road/MTB mix groupset...

In the afternoon I decided to put in a stint on the TT bike, as there appeared to suddenly be the chance of being called as a substitute partner for a mate in a 25m two up time trial... half an hour on the TT bike on the rollers, followed by an hour on the road and the bike felt GOOD!

Just as well I did, as I was indeed asked to perform on Sunday. Set off too fats feeling strong and working with a juch stronger male tt-er... and blew up spectacularly but a short 1.07 not bad on a sporting course and not being at all race fit yet

Today I had to ride in London... potholes and idiot drivers galore and not been able to find a good training spot here in South London. I normally stay in West London and go to Richmond Park...

Need to improvise again somehow tomorrow, not sure what line to take yet... maybe just do hillreps up a hilly road roudn the corner? Other than that it is trying to track stand on a geared racing bike at traffic lights and doing traffic light sprints LOL

Yes, I'm trying to do 45mins to an hour every day to try and retain some level of fitness while the calf heals. 45 mins yesterday as well using a GPX file of a route round here. Just been to buy a turbo tyre as the one on the bike is slipping a lot. Then another hour or so.

That video's too technical for me, but don't like it too smooth. Did the 25ml Stanage circuit yesterday, and the bulldozers were out smoothing Houndkirk Lane, which has for years been one of my favourite sections - rough enough to be interesting, but not too technical and all rideable. What a shame.
The descent from Stanage Pole is just too rough. Does anyone manage to stay on on that?
