Hmm Like to, but I wouldn't settle for anything else other than a commission and last time I applied for the forces they told me I was too old to be a regular. That said I could get in the TA and try and shift across.

Looking at Nursing, maybe get a commission in the Army Medical Services?

Allan, When i was signing on i had no intention of getting a job but i managed to scam it for 6 months. In that time i got £1500 off them. All you have to do is apply for jobs you are not suited to or put a crap CV with your application, leave any request for references blank, etc. One thing you have to do is go in once a fortnight to sign on.

Hmm I have no intention of going out of my way to not get a job. I will be looking for a job (infact going out today to try and find one). However what I meant was that I might as well as make the most of it while I've got the time.

daz is right allan, I got made redundant a few years ago and having had a kick up the arse I am much better off now (we'll gloss over the fact I had to go and work at a shopping channel for 3 months ).

You'll find something better and be glad you quit I reckon

After working for the same company for 34 years from leaving school i had no intention of getting another job straight away and spent last summer making the most of it. I have since got a part time job which is considerably less stressful than my old job and gives me the freedom to do other things i want to do.

I am nowhere near as well off as before and my pension wont be as good, but money isnt any good if you aint happy

    Re: Just quit my job....

Funnily enough I've just been looking at some government jobs, and on a part time hours with the government I could get as good a salary as I earn temping or working in the bar for less hours!!!

I've generally ignored the part time jobs cos I thought I'd get less, but at more salary for less hours who can argue?? OK it's only £13,000 starting salary working up to £18,000 for a 30 hour week, but when you figure in the pension, sick pay etc, I would be better off than if I stayed temping or working in the bar fulltime!!

Fair enough I see your point, it's not like you were a chav taking advantage of the system, you were just getting something back. I however need to get myself into a permanent job ASAP as since leaving college all I've done is temped.

Part time would also mean more time to get intimate with your bike Allan.
