Don't kow if it has already been said, but don't forget that the clocks change on the night before the skyline.... Also, I believe that winnat's pass is closed at the minute, not likely that anyone would come that way, but it will make the edale road bussier and thus slower.
See you all there.
Also, if anyone was thinking of coming to Edale by train there are no services on Sunday due to engineering works
May not be doing this now - TBH I've lost a bit of enthusiasm for it at the moment. I was mostly using it as long training run for 3P anyway (for which I've also lost a bit of enthusiasm for doing as well, but will do it anyway).
Instead I think I'm going to go and do the rescheduled Thirsk 10, for which I've also got a number from last year when it was cancelled. I fancy a faster road run I think. All the training that I've been doing should have put me in reasonable PB shape. It'll also leave me a chance of having a go at a PB next week at the Wakefield 10k (club challenge race) as well if I feel like it. Although I'm not even enthused at this either.
Will make a final decision later in week - I take it that it's worth dropping Andy J an email if I don't do it in order to make his life a bit easier?
<insert guilt-trip for those who missed out on a starting place/>
Really looking forward to this weekend. I've managed a few long training runs, but still not too sure how I'll cope racing 21 miles (I've only raced 14+miles once before). As such I'm not setting myself a target time, but I appear to have regained some form over the last couple of weeks which is promising, although I fear that my current record of never being overtaken on the last downhill/flat section of a race may be heading up the swanny on Sunday!
Thought i'd post this on here for the benefit of everyone once the answer comes in.
Ian,
question for you regarding kit check. Are tights ok as leg cover? last year whoever checked my kit said it was ok for tights to be used as leg cover, as i ran in tights (much to my discomfort in the heat) and therefore did not carry anything else.
Given the weather looks ace again is that the view the kit checkers will take?
Cheers,
Can't say at the moment as the descision will be made by the RO on the day however shorts are ok as long as you carry windproof leggings. I suspect pertex tops will be ok on the day but PLEASE BRING FULL WATERPROOFS just incase. Most will be out for 4-5 hours, it is still March and the last bit from Brown Knoll to the end is pretty exposed if you are tired so dress accordingly, ps don't forget your phone![]()
Race Details
21miles, 4,500 feet of climb - at least!
There will be a kit check before the start. We will require:
•Full waterproof body cover i.e. cagoule with hood and overtrousers
•Hat
•Gloves
•Map of the route
•Compass
•Whistle
•Mobile phone
•Emergency food
From DPFR website. RO may relax parts of that on the day, but you need it with you as usual.
