Correct. "Mickledore is strictly out of bounds and therefore descending Scafell Pike via this
route is not allowed. Teams seen heading south west towards Mickledore will
be disqualified. Particular care is required on the descent of Scafell Pike and it is
recommended that those who have not reconnoitred the direct descent should
    descend via Little Narrow Cove"

You sort of drop off the side of Scafell Pike, over Rough Crag and to the west of Dow Crag. It isn't as bad as it looks.

Make sure you recce it Steve, it's ok IF you get the right line, there's a few cliffs and lots of loose rock if you take the wrong line.

Cheers Ian, over Rough Crag, keeping Dow Crag on the right and Little Narrowcove on the left?

No! If you manage to get off the end of Rough Crag safely, go South downhill with Dow Crag on your left, crossing the stream on the left lower down. If you don't get a chance to recce it and cannot follow anyone retrace your steps and descend Little Narrowcove; It is only marginally slower.

We failed to find it in broad daylight last year despite a prior recce. Better luck this year. Maybe I won't be hallucinating from too much sun this year!
