Swallow? I've spotted an odd Swallow very early in April in previous years but 24th March?

was on the half on sunday and a runner in front of me nearly got run over by a startled deer which then doubled back and was followed by another five. lovely healthy looking deer too.

Aye 1000% bona fide Swallow. First Wheatear was next day on Bleaklow, and Chiffchaffs heard yesterday in Hawkshead again. Spring well under way methinks, eyes to the skies for Osprey....

Can't wait! I like your new avatar DT.

Tonight: more hares (masses of them), more curlews and the piebald was having a mad half hour racing round his paddock bucking and squealing. All this wildlife is playing havoc with my garmin stats

Oh yes, and I found a very cosy little mouse nest in my ball of string up at the allotment. That will explain who ate all my apples and just left little shreds of red skin!

Don't worry Stef, I put it back and I'll be using my other string until I'm sure the mouse has moved home.

Just seen a barn owl hunting near Mickley. There seems to be a fair few around.
