New Garmin Forerunner 610 with TOUCHSCREEN. Looks too prescriptive for me, but good if you want a wrist-top trainer?

Have I owned my 305 long enough to upgrade
Probably not...!
the 310XT does everything this does and is more waterproof. I have found it to be excellent and has set ups for swimming bike and running. very versatile. has british grid, will follow a course or breadcrumb trail to find your way back though not used that yet?
Good, now I just have to wait five years for it to come down to a price I can justify. Does look nice though.
Having recently bought the 310XT I have been wondering if I would prefer to have the 610. I agree with Geronimo, the only difference is the Touchscreen and I have decided on reflection that this would probably be a liability. It would be too easy when pulling a rucsac or even clothing on and off to press the wrong section accidentally. And even if the Touchscreen locks, one has to remember to lock / unlock it, which I certainly don't always manage with my iPod.
