102 miles for me in that damm wind, id an idea of starting steady but managed to catch 3 riders at ripley just before you enter the peak district. The front two riders had motorpoint jerseys on and the 3rd was a long eaton rider. They nodded morning and for 15 miles up the a6 i hung on. Ive never been so exhausted. I couldnt do a turn , not one. They finally pulled away near bakewell as they turned off. Ive no idea who they where but thats the fastest ive ever ridden up that road. After that i headed up to buxton and over to tunstead, millers dale, up to taddington then back down the a6. The wind was ridiculous. Back through bakewell which was bank holiday traffic hell then matlock then slightly slower down thw stretch of the a6 that id been killed on earlier.
All the way to derby and home in a roundabout way.
Not really the best day windwise to pick a long ride but it was a good workout. Uncanny really as on the way up the m6 last week to the lakes the motorpoint team was in the services and i remarked that they looked a bit flash. If it was a couple of the team that i was behind today then the utmost respect.
Just goes to show how good you have to be to be at the top level on a bike.

A rather pleasant 25 miles on the mtb. That Cotic fella knows how to knock up a hardtail!!

Today's top tip is to not look a the sky through the trees whilst riding single track peppered with tree stumps, it could only end badly and it did!!

    hello biketeers

perhaps you have been wondering - where have you been ratfink? have you given up cycling? are you ready for the fred whitton challenge at the weekend? (perhaps not)

anyway the answers are hiding and doing gentle rides, no and no

fellow cyclists i have a stowaway on board! the prospective daddy (having ridden it in a respectable sub 7hour time last year) has deemed hardknott after 100 miles too hard for this width ways increasing cyclist

Having puffed up some minor lakes hills (including newlands from the easy side) over a very sunny fortnight in the lakes i am somewhat relieved

arrival is currently expected on bonfire night, i am still biking but seem to have hurt my pelvis running.

    excited (tubby) ratty
