    Thanks YDT and BFMK, wasn't sure on that one. Would a Lakeland 100 one do? It covers all areas.

    Any scale would do as long as it is sufficient for navigation if you need it. I usually carry a colour print A4 size; it is more manageable than a large map (I must confess, I've done the race so many times, the map stays in my pocket).

    In case one of the pair drops their map when it's really really windy when they stop for a quick number two and the map blows away and their partner has to run after it and catch it.

    In the Saunders MM they used to issue only one description sheet per pair (in the days when you had to mark the map after the start). That did cause some problems on occasions.
