Campy levers breaking!!!? I've still got my mirage 8 speed from 1997 on my Ribble!! They click like a dream. If he's managed to knacker his ergos I wouldn't touch his carbon frame with a barge poll.....

On a separate note Hann have you been to Welwyn Track League on a Friday night? Welwyn is a much nicer track to race on than Herne Hill IMO.

Campagnolo levers dont just break, they last a lifetime. The ratchet and the spring simply wears down thats all. You cannot break a lever by just flicking it. Before the lever broke you would simply snap the gear cable. Simple as.
So tell your man friend mr leverbeaver that mercian will refurb them for about 30 quid a lever as dom has posted.
Jeff the ergoman will tell you the same thing.

Whats up with the lad, a free dinner:thumbup:. Sounds to me like hes playing hard to get.
I think you are right, he is playing hard to get! He is handsome, and an awesome cyclist, but not THAT awesome

I tell him to send it off and get it repaired, to me it looked like something inside, some thin wire type connection, had snapped, probably just worn... didn't seem to be anything wrong with the lever, but having seen the bike close up, it is pretty well used! I reckon he is most peeved about the fact that I have now been put off buying it. Mind, main reason for not wanting it is that my Ti Qoroz rides better!!! I LOVE my bike, I am no longer going to be convinced to look at a full carbon frame, there we are!!!

Fell Donkey, where is Welwyn???? I am in South Wales and local to the Newport Velodrome... so don't usually travel the country to ride an outdoor track... This was just an opportunity, a rare one for me, to do a track race... the only one in fact, apart from the European Masters I am planning on doing in Italy in August...

It's probably a bit far for you then. Welwyn Garden City is just north of London on the A1, the track is at the Gosling Sports Centre. It's a great outdoor track 500 metres and quite a steep banking.

The league on a Friday night is really popular with cyclists in London and the Home Counties. If you're up that way it's definitely worth a look the ten mile under flood lights is a cracking race.

I rode there loads as a nipper it's much better than Herne Hill. Mind you after all these sportives I'm thinking of dusting my old track frame off for some Manchester track league action...
