Straight up the path from fitz park. You contour a bit to the right to get to the summit. Back down to the gate, run a bit further then just cut to the right which just really cuts the path off.
Rejoin the path, through the gate and back down to fitz park.
    Beware though.

The route isnt a problem but post race blisters will be if your feet are not hardened. You can do it in road shoes but if they are a tad big you will get blisters. To small and black toenails will follow.
First year i did it i had blisters for about 3 weeks after.
Great race though, tough one if its really hot.

    Good luck

Might give this a whirl on Sunday, looks like it could be fairly easy and level underfoot. I make the route 9.2m/2975', rather than the advertised 9m/2700'. Better stock up on energy gels it'll be a beasting.

Cheers to Keswick AC for another excellent event, i guess you could say it was tough. I'm always annoyed by how underprepared i am for lakes AM cat races spending so much time on the short distance scene, my legs just don't have any more than about 7 miles in them before they just dump on me. I found the climb quite to my liking, but as soon as i'd dropped off Little Man by the car park i was shot to bits.

Agree Mr B, it was excellent. Very tough out there today. Even though the last couple of miles are the easiest, I was wilting and felt like walking. I did walk during the first path into Fitz Park, until I met a small child, who said that I was 'not running'. She had a point.

Enjoyed the tea and 'one savoury, two cake' in the clubhouse. Had I been less tired I might have asked if I could swap a cake for a savoury, but in the circs it was too much effort.

Have run this now in torrential rain and blazing sun. Will be back next year to see if conditions are any kinder.

I walked up onto the A66 footbridge and along that last little hill before dropping into the park. I'd love to blame the heat or my shoe choice or my knackered ankle, but the sad fact of the matter is i spend so much time training my legs for short explosive bursts i'm now crap at distances! Hey-ho.

I was going to go back for some cakes as the money from such sales always goes to good causes, but i couldn't muster the energy for the walk.
