2 kites on the Blorenge at Abergavenny yesterday.

2 Blackbird chicks, having fallen out of the nest at the front of our house in the early hours this morning, until someones cat found them - the cat is now being hunted and punishment will be issued when it is caught!

2 young red deer, about 20ft away from me on the opposite bank of the burn as I headed up towards Ben Wyvis. I'd got downwind of them, so they had no idea I was there until I was almost next to them. Stayed still, and we watched each other for about 5 minutes....before the driving rain forced me to continue. Lovely.

Oh, and tadpoles...thousands of them in grubby water by the side of the path.

Was a couple of weeks back now, 'bout 8.30 evening, and a badger wandered onto the track ahead about 30m ahead of me. It was my quick 5k from home along a green lane. Really windy night so it didn't hear me, but the wind was on my back so I didn't get such a long time before it sniffed about and casually sauntered off into the hedge, as I looked over the fence where it had dissappeared, nought but two playful hares... Ah, I was well chuffed for days :-)

That sounds like a great encounter. I saw a roe deer a few weeks back on a morning run and it stopped to have a good look at me an my friend, magical. Not seen much today except jackdaws, rooks, swifts and swallows but I love all of those so I'm happy enough.
