PS to all ponies as a trial for our upcoming series the first Pony race will be the new race HEPTONSTALL FESTIVAL!! Saturday 9th July / 6miles / 1500 ft Trig has beaten me into submission and he is making an effort to supply the first pony home trophy so i hereby offer to MARSHAL THE RACE WITH HIM and watch for any ponies if there is a turn out for this event the Fell pony championship will become live !!!
Come on Steve is a decent bloke who has put in a lot of effort for this fell race and even has offered a trophy for first pony.

    Thank you

I'm thinking about going to Heptonstall and having a bash at the race there. Will I be ok running/walking/crawling it in my normal trainers?

Send Trig a pm or ask him on here i am sure he will fill you in on all the detail it's a new race so i have no idea on the route or type of ground.

Tom the only requirement of the FPCS is that on the day of the race you enter the race as a fell pony and run in the vest------ cue the load of threads now about we are not affiliated or some other thing

Hello Kanga - congratulations on your new Fell Pony status - good luck in your fell running career. You'll soon be addicted.
Really hope you can join us on 9th - the route is on www.heptonstallfestivalrace.org.uk - we are still fine tuning the exact lines but the map is 90% correct. The whole thing will be flagged on the day. Re trainers - this time year any running footwear will get you round.
Despite the big ascent the incline rarely gets too severe so you'll be fine!
Hope you can spread the word round Rochdale - flyer attached - feel free to print a few
    Attachment 4889
In meantime a nice introductory race could be Cragg Vale next week - nice short mid week event - friendly and not far for you to travel
