    Angry Haworth Clampers

I don't lose my rag very often, but:

Anyone had any run-ins with the Haworth Clampers? What a set of absolute pillocks they are. On Sunday I parked up and went to the Pay & Display machine when some guy got out of his black discovery "advising" me to get all day parking and that if I didn't and I was a minute late I'd get clamped. When I returned to the car park after watching the Bronte Way race there were two of the gits strutting around on mobile phones walking up and down looking in every car. As I was looking at them, one of them piped up that he wasn't looking to steal a car and that he was a clamper. I told him that I knew exactly who he was, which seemed to please him as he said that it was great being famous. As I reversed out of the spot he came right up to the windscreen of the car to check my ticket - fairly inflammatory behaviour. I've heard about these b*$tards picking on old and disabled people and I understand they work for "Britain's most hated clamping firm" etc... A word of advice: If anyone goes to Haworth don't park in the car park opposite the woolshop at the top of town - find somwhere else to park where these parasites can't operate. Seems a shame that the council can't do something to clear up this scum. [rant over]

Problem is the council don't own the land, its private, which is part of the problem.
The last time they were featured on 'look north' one of the attendants started giving the reporter loads of grief live on tv.
Most locals avoid it, but there are so many unsuspecting tourists that they still get lots of trade.
They have even been known to watch people park, then clamp them when they are out of sight because the car is touching the boundary line.

    Re: Haworth Clampers

I wish nothing but a world of hell and misery for all associated with this scum company.

I got stung today for £90 on my first (and last) visit to Haworth. Having not had a great week personally myself and the Mrs where passing through the Haworth area in the car and decided to stop of for an hour. We parked on the Ramshackled excuse for a car park and on set out to Haworth we clocked these scum clampers discussing a clamping with a young couple. I became quite aware and said to the Mrs that we'll make sure we get back within enough time it looks like they are clamping.

On returning with about 15 minutes to spare, we returned to the car and noticed a clamp on the front wheel. I proteseted this with the cap and tracksuit wearing attendant and his reason was that the front tyre was touching the line. I'll call it a line it was more of a line of cobbles. He demanded £90 or the vehicle would be towed away.

I tried reasoning politely this did not work.
I threatened getting the police involved, to be informed that they would do nothing.
I walked away and thought about the bad week we had been having and how an day out in Haworth would be a nice get away, thinking this , I comtemplated full on violence involving house bricks (now thats not me). I just did not need this at all.

It's a similar situation to defending yourself agasinst burglars in your own home your completely powerless and this is not a nice feeling.

As I walked to the cash machine I discovered 4 more people who had been clamped by these f*****s.

One couple had not parked in a bay- Apparently. The car park was that ramshackled that you could not even tell if there where bays. This couple had just parked where they felt they would not be blocking anyone in.

Another couple had displayed there ticket on the side window instead of the windscreen and another couple had done the same as us.

I took photos and took photos of the terms and cons of the car park. They have covered all there tracks, but how many people do you know who read the fine when entering a car park.

I'm really really upset about this, looking through the internet it's appparent that this scum has been operating for the last three years at least.

I know it's not the fault of the business' of Haworth but I wont be going back. I expect that kind of crap in city centres. What have the people of Haworth or the local authorities done to tackle this.

Has anyone else been exploited by these cowboys.

How do they sleep at night, what goes around comes around I say

    Jamie

    Re: Haworth Clampers

Apparently the car park is owed by a gent called Ted Evans (A Bingley Magistrate), This is the same old man who was selling his book near the pay machine. He said if you buy the you get a full days free parking. I politely refused ( i dont read all that much) but I was polite enought to explain this and have a few minutes chat about what his book was about.

    Bastard, distraction tactics or what.

    Re: Haworth Clampers

All KCAC races from haworth (bronte 5 etc) have notices saying dont park there. Almost all shops have notices in the window saying dont park there. There isnt much Haworth residents can do, only visitors park there, sorry NotOnUrHelly, there is advice in the contact point as to what can be done. Having taken photos there might be a loophole. Plus the law is changing so that soon it will be illegal. That car park is a pain for all residents as it gives a poor advert for the village. Sorry.
