    Re: Skiddaw Race

Been wanting to do this for a while. What a massive climb. Me and my mate have been asking each other if we could "run" all the way to the top. So irrespective of time and placing I just made that my target. Half way up the climb up Jenkin Hill I saw a roll of rusting fencing and said to myself "I'll walk when I reach that" but I just kept going and made it. You may have seen me inching up as you all came down past me. I'm a bit of a descent monkey and thought I might make a good job but there was nothing left in the tank and I don't think I caught anybody. After a couple of tumbles over the years I'm just concentrating on living to fight another day. Next time I'l walk and beat 2 hours!
Great atmosphere. As usual my lowlands club vest caused amusement.

    Well done mr b.
Good effort by all today. It was mega hot on the climb.
I was going to race this after racing in wales yesterday but decided to recce the rydal round early this morning. I hope its the same as the fairfield horseshoe. It wasnt to bad earlier temp wise.
I headed up to skiddaw and offered to take some water upmfor a few people. I managed to run without walking the whole way up to skiddaw little man summit. Mr coope was en route with me as well.
I was exhausted at little man.
Dropped back down and started giving out water. Wish i could have carried enough for everyone. Sorry about that.
Some good runs being done by everyone.
I marshalled at the turn off down the grass for a while then ran back down to fitz park.
After the heat of yesterday and today i have huge blisters which have come off on my heels.

Was going to drive home earlier but currently sat posting in the oddfellows arms on my new i pad thingy.
Wifi its called and they have it in costa coffee too.

Yeah they put all kinds of crap in. You're better off with a cup of tea.

Great run here yesterday! Beat my last time by over 6 minutes (Last time must have been a very poor run). I found Blackrodlad sunbathing 1/2 way up Jenkin Hill, so made him run with me and give keep me going, although I was tempted to just give up and take in some rays with him.

Also, there were a couple of runners that ran and were not carrying bumbags despite the reminders at registration about required kit.

    Some photos have appeared here.

Enjoyed this despite the heat. Can't believe Mr B. ran in his tracksters! And still disappeared off down the hill when I though I might catch up with him. Great friendly race anyway.

    Peawet,

I saw them being given a talking to at the race start, so I think it was covered.

Congrats on getting in under 2 hours. I took a friend to the race as training for a charity walk up Kilamanjaro and he got in under the 2 hours by 10 seconds, with a bit of a sprint finish.

I was on go-slow because of my ankle problems from the chevin race so you had every chance, i expected to see you somewhere near Latrigg TBH.

Tracksters are the way forward for me, i don't like my legs they're too skinny. I only sweat on my face and my arse so getting too hot isn't a problem; i'm a very cold person generally too, any colder and i'd be Mr Dead looking out at you all from a pine box. I'd have to be wheeled up and down the courses on a sack cart by the back markers, i'd probably be a health hazard!

[He lives in a box and looks like a corpse.........he's dead of course] Today- goaan fellrunn'n

    I digress.

Get your skinny legs out. It is the way forward. Maybe we should start a poll.
