Done about 20 mile around mossley and stalybridge before heading back up home (dovestones) but threw in a Compo's and back, been feeling it by Snoops lay by but blew up just at the top and free wheeled back down. Good ride though

Next time carry on into holmfirth, go along woodhead road until you reach holme, take to left the digley reservoir and head back on to Isle of Skye road. Nice little climb to be found there. Once you hit Isle of skye go straight over in to meltham then take the left to go over wessenden head, another cracking little climb that'll bring you back onto isle of skye then left back to dovestones.
Have you done any hill reps on the chew reservoir road?

What was your route Tom? You gonna be doing the chew road hill reps on your road bike?

    Dovestones-mossley-stalybridge-Ashton-Oldham-lees-2 laps of Grotton, Mossley, Lydgate, Grotton-mossley station-roughtown road-new earth st-lees road-quickedge road-lydgate-star inn-Delph-uppermill-church inn-tunstead-dovestones

I wouldn't do Chew Res reps on a road bike as the gravel and 'speed bumps' on the way down could shred a tyre I think- then again I'm a newbie and it might stand it. Hybrid bike would do

It's been a while since I was up there but from what I remember it should be ok. Can't be any worse than the col de finestre and plenty of people ride that beast.

Just trawled some pictures and the speed bumps are pretty frequent so could be a little problematic. Funny I don't remember then from when I was last up there.

Yeah they are hard work, it's a shame really as it's a cracking climb. Roughtown road in Mossley is as hard as they come. 550ft in half a mile with 2 tight steep corners.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

No road ride for me today as didnt have time. Left it late but jumped on my rollers for a very tough 95mins in the 12 sprocket. Bloody hard
Was outside on the drive and it started raining fairly heavy which made the rollers fairly slippy.
Tough after last nights fell race
