Another big thanks to everyone involved yesterday, especially to Rhys for stepping in for Richard. It was a great day out and much better than last year's thick clag and rain! Seemed to make little difference to my position or time though!

only one reasonable pic ....contrast must be way off on camera...still good cavalry charge. Was too busy at the finish directing bemused runners through the gate to take any more. ( some seemed to thinkwe had hidden the finish in mr blands boxes)...brains obviously fried; poor things.. did they think it was the saunders![]()
Those who reached Scafell Pike after about 3.45 got the best views of the day - although many seemed a bit too delirious to take them in! When we got up there at 1.30 to set up the checkpoint it was heaving with about 200 people (who mainly stood in the way) and covered in clag, Ben appeared out of the mist 13 minutes clear of Es, with 3rd and 4th together about 5mins back, if memory serves.
Once all the punters had gone the views arrived and it was quite marvelous, wow! Gutted I had my camera but my memory card was left at home, d'oh!
well that's a new entry at number 1 in my list of fave races
difficult to find words to describe, but overheard someone else use "magical" so I'll go with that
backofthepack - you must've been near me then - you weren't the one in the Bowland vest that I took the wrong way around Esk Hause?
group of 3 of us who arrived at Gable on 4:31 and were allowed to continue
great to see Manhar and ba-ba on Scafell Pike
the final descent down Lingmell nose is pure genius - being able to see most of the route, and the lake, and the sea, and the sun![]()
Sorry Daz not me .Got to gable at 3.21, just infront of you, finished just under 6.30
Despite there being no views at Seatallan due to a fat cloud that sat on us for the whole time the CP was open, one bloke did stop and whip out a camera. Bet that was an interesting photo! Lovely to wander back down the valley afterwards though, and we only missed the first finisher by the time we got back![]()
Mighty Wasdale, my first big Lakeland race and one of the best races I've done in any sport...right up there with 3PCX, Ironman lanzarote,Fred Whitton, Helvellyn Tri & Coniston Gullies
first 6 or 7 miles just soften you up and I was glad I took it easy
Pillar to Great Gable is the main beef and then I just tried to keep the wheels on and fight off the cramp for the last hill
Those messy rocks around the summits are a menace, like someones detonated a block of flats for you to run over
The final descent is epic, terrible and a brilliant way to end the race, a real quad killer...
5 hiours 17 mins flashes by in a very engaging instant
Great to see Joss Naylor at finish
Many thanks to those who worked so hard to put the race on....a wonderful experience , Thank you
